Look out, here they come!
Re: Look out, here they come!
I think most people were wondering why china hadn't opened up like the rest, so we're wondering what they were hiding from us again, anyway we will find out soon. Hope I'm wrong.
I'm standing up, so I must be straight.

Re: Look out, here they come!
I don't think they were hiding anything, they just knew the rate of spread, the number of hospitals per population ( much less than other countries who had a bad time of it), number of unvaccinated/ vulnerable people and what was likely to happen if and when they did open... Hospitals and morgues are being put under a lot of pressure.

If JB isn't going to take you up on your kind offer of a guided tour and a bus ticket, can anyone apply?kgbagent wrote: ↑Thu Dec 29, 2022 1:28 amHere you go again .... your perceptions from your cave in PP is based on your fellow travelers on CEO and your thinking that reality is from a single FB group? So your "personal experience of being in the town and seeing all the empty and abandoned businesses at the height of COVID was just imagined?" Seems your blinkered eye patches didn't see all the closed business in PP and especially riverside as you obviously base your comments on the main tourist area of Kampot. You obviously failed to notice a similar trend in Europe, Asia, America or virtually any country on Earth? SR was a ghost town - forget to criticize that? Get real Kampot was not in isolation and the only person buying that is you. Come on wise man - take me up on my offer - I will even shout you tickets on Giant Ibis ( you know that PP bus company that delivered tourists all around Cambodia and neighboring countries that shut down over covid ) that now has 4 buses a day coming to Kampot. Put up or stop whining - I left PP, where I lived for some years, because of wanker elitists who think living in a capital city is the bee's knees.John Bingham wrote: ↑Thu Dec 29, 2022 12:40 amThis makes me laugh because it's so typical of the Kampot foreigners. For more than a decade they have tried to deny that anything has ever gone wrong there. The local social media groups are infamous for censoring any bad news about the place. Rapes, robberies, murders are all covered up in the interests of the "good vibes". So my personal experience of being in the town and seeing all the empty and abandoned businesses at the height of COVID was just imagined? Get real, nobody is buying that.kgbagent wrote: ↑Thu Dec 29, 2022 12:19 amPretty naïve bro - you may not realise that the globe was affected, and I guess that's a symptom of a bubble, but most places on the planet are now recovering. My offer stands - take a day for a guided tour down here and be surprised. Petrol on me.John Bingham wrote: ↑Thu Dec 29, 2022 12:04 am So it has recovered? That's great. To say it wasn't affected is what I said was delusional.

Wonder if all travellers from China will be tested as they seem to be so concerned about it here still.
Re: Look out, here they come!
More countries are now putting up barriers, this time the USA. By the time China opens up there won't be many places that welcome them openly. I can't understand why some countries are trusting tests taken in China, the land of all things faked. Japan doesn't, they are going to test upon arrival.

Travellers to the US from China will be required to take a COVID-19 test no more than two days before travel and provide a negative test before boarding their flight. The testing applies to anyone two years old and above.
Other countries have taken similar steps in an effort to keep infections from spreading beyond China's borders. Japan will require a negative COVID-19 test upon arrival for travelers from China, and Malaysia announced new tracking and surveillance measures. India, South Korea and Taiwan are requiring virus tests for visitors from China.

Given the gift that keeps giving, that was gifted just a few short years ago, and how much it has cost, I’d suggest they be invited to a $2000 bonded quarantine on arrival at a mediocre hotel of their own making, while arrival, 48hr and 72hr follow up nasal and cranial intrusion PCR tests are processed, plus one random arbitrary extra day of stay, and 50% of the remaining balance be donated to the local job market, such as concrete mixing for road dividers, (and the remainder refunded when they politely fuck off.)

Don't forget to only feed them Western junk food during their two-week quarantine.Freightdog wrote: ↑Thu Dec 29, 2022 3:36 pm Given the gift that keeps giving, that was gifted just a few short years ago, and how much it has cost, I’d suggest they be invited to a $2000 bonded quarantine on arrival at a mediocre hotel of their own making, while arrival, 48hr and 72hr follow up nasal and cranial intrusion PCR tests are processed, plus one random arbitrary extra day of stay, and 50% of the remaining balance be donated to the local job market, such as concrete mixing for road dividers, (and the remainder refunded when they politely fuck off.)
