https://www.rte.ie/news/world/2022/1221 ... n-taliban/Hundreds of young women have been stopped by armed guards from entering Afghan university campuses this morning, a day after the nation's Taliban rulers banned them from higher education in another assault on human rights.
Despite promising a softer rule when they seized power last year, the hardline Islamists have ratcheted up restrictions on all aspects of women's lives, ignoring international outrage.
A team of journalists saw groups of students gathered outside universities in the capital, Kabul, barred from entering by armed guards and shuttered gates.
Many, dressed in hijabs, were also seen standing in groups on roads leading to the campuses.
"We are doomed. We have lost everything," said one student, who asked not to be identified.
Male students also expressed shock at the latest edict.
"It really expresses their illiteracy and low knowledge of Islam and human rights," said one, also asking not to be named.
"If the situation continues like this the future will be worse. Everyone is scared."
In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

They won’t, much. A few will speak out, a few will be butchered in the name of Allah and to satisfy the insecure misogynists. As for the dark ages, they haven’t really stepped out. Just for a while, the curtain was drawn back, a glimpse of what was possible waved tantalizingly close, and then it returned to normal.
What they ought to do is ban women, altogether. In about 60yrs, much of the problem may have sorted itself mostly to everyone’s satisfaction.

How long till the locals have enough? Maybe never. Education is not a big thing in Afghanistan. If it were already developed sufficiently, this kind of thing would never happen. The Taliban are old farts with nothing but their Quran.
The women are unhappy and would protest if they could. The future depends on the influence of young people who grow up and replace the hardliners. Of course, if none of them have any schooling outside the Madrasa, and they are all men, well... Nothing much changes.
Not long ago, Afghanistan had female ministers of government. Despite thousands of young women and men with a more modern education, they are few and seem to have little to no power over the Taliban clique.

Denying education would help to protect the Taliban & keep control.
Re: Afghan women stopped from entering universities after Taliban ban
The Taliban has a long history of denying women access to education, as it is in contradiction to their strict interpretation of Islamic law. So was anyone really shocked when they enacted the ban on women entering University?

this is how journalists describe cancelling women's classes.assault on human rights.
what do women in Bronze Age Afghanistan need school for? any job a woman can do a man can do it better, aside from only two, mother and bargirl.
