World's Biggest (100 Meters) Buddha Statue Planned for Bokor Mountain
December 17, 2022
Plans for world’s biggest Buddha statue to be built on Cambodian mountain
The President of Sokha Hotel, Sok Kong, says that his company plans to build a huge 100 metre statue – 3 times higher than the current biggest statue – of the Buddha on Bokor Mountain in Kampot
According to reports, The Prime Minister of Cambodia, HE, has recently approved the construction of the statue by the tycoon, stipulating that the style of the statue must be redesigned in line with the Khmer style.
Mr Sok said that the purpose of building this huge statue of Buddha is to be a sacred shrine for Cambodian people and to dedicate to the happiness, prosperity and lasting peace to the people of the Kingdom of Cambodia.
In addition, the huge Buddha statue will contribute to the support of Buddhism and the development of cultural tourism, and in particular will be a huge attraction for millions of national and international tourists.
The current biggest sitting Buddha statue in the world is The Big Buddha – a large bronze statue of Buddha, completed in 1993, and located at Ngong Ping, Lantau Island, in Hong Kong.
The Big Buddha is 34 metres (112 ft) tall, weighs over 250 metric tons (280 short tons) – but would be dwarfed by the 100m high planned Cambodian Buddha.
Mr Sok said that, so far, his company has submitted a request to the Ministry of Environment to build the statue.
At the same time, the company is actively working with the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts on architectural design to ensure that this large Buddha statue is properly constructed in accordance with the Cambodian style.
Mr Sok also revealed that the project is expected to cost about 30 to 40 million US dollars, and that construction will begin as soon as possible after the company receives permission from the relevant ministries.

The one in Burma is standing
Its really cool as you can climb up inside it and there 1,000's of small stupas around it> Visited this one on one of my trips to Burma
and than you have this one; (120 meters) in height, the Ushiku Amida Buddha in Japan
