ER visa extension with travel agent...fishy
Re: ER visa extension with travel agent...fishy
I had to pay backpay for work permit, which delayed my visa and I had to pay for 10 days overstay.justanotherexpat wrote: ↑Wed Dec 14, 2022 11:42 pm My visa runs up in a few months. I've been doing the "business" visa since 2020 and I've been told by folks something about having to back pay for work permits and another guy told me that I won't be able to get another one without it.
Just wondering if anyone else has renewed a "business" visa without a work permit since this whole policy change thing happened.
Once you've read the dictionary, every other book is just a remix.

You can still change to an ER from an EB at renewal timeFreightdog wrote: ↑Thu Dec 15, 2022 8:57 amThe rough plan with my Visa was to change to an ER from the current EB. That option being closed now is a pain. I’m not due to leave the country until after my next renewal.PSD-KIwi wrote:

Q1: You will not be charged retroactive WP fees when applying for an ER from an EB...you only have to pay the retroactive fees when applying for a WP, which you won't need to do if applying for an ER EOS.Doc67 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 15, 2022 10:52 am
I have a technical question.
My new passport has arrived, my old one has been cancelled. My Visa expires on Feb 6th and is an EB EOS. I have no WP and never have, I have been here for 5 years.
Q1:
I'm was planning to apply for my first ER visa, as an EOS, converting from my current EB EOS. Will they want the WP fees for all the time I have been here on an EB EOS without a WP, even though I am now applying for an ER EOS?
I am planning a short 4 day trip abroad in January and I will exit on my old cancelled passport ( to hand in the entry card and show how I got into the country) and re-enter on my new passport.
Q2:
Can I re-renter using my current visa in my cancelled passport, or is it better to simply apply for a new Ordinary visa at the airport and covert that into an ER EOS. This will allow my old visa to expire with the passport it was issued in having left the country, thus closing the book on all those years of EB EOS without a WP ever being produced.
Will this work? Will I be able to start afresh and without anyone nosing around trying to backdate WP charges?
Q2: You can just apply for a new E-type VOA when you return, they will probably ask why since you still have a valid EOS in your cancelled passport, just tell them you list that passport, no issue...or you can reenter with the valid EB EOS in your cancelled passport and then apply for the ER when it's time to renew, either way you won't be charged retroactive WP fees as per my answer to Q1.

That’s a relief. I understood that had been stopped, but clearly not. Cheers.PSD-Kiwi wrote: ↑Thu Dec 15, 2022 1:05 pmYou can still change to an ER from an EB at renewal timeFreightdog wrote: ↑Thu Dec 15, 2022 8:57 amThe rough plan with my Visa was to change to an ER from the current EB. The agent I use every year also didn't request anything in regards to a screenshot - I had my landlord with us and agent told her she could leave. Whether they used last year's or if renewals no longer require I couldn't tell you, but I did get my visa renewed with no issues.

Not a policy change, just stricter enforcement of the policy. If you have never had a WP then you will need to get one in order to apply for a renewal of tour EB EOS, and yes you will be charged a retroactive fee of $100 for every year you have been in Cambodia on an E-type Visa or E-type Visa EOS without a WP. Details of the policy enforcement and changes below...
Changes to Visa Extensions of Stay with effect 17th October 2022.
- If you arrive with an E-type (Ordinary) Visa and want to apply for a 12 mth EB (Business) EOS, you are required to have a copy of your Work Permit card, Employment Letter and Companies Patent Tax License.
- If you don't have a Work Permit then you are only allowed to apply for a 6 mth EB EOS, you must have your Employement Letter and Patent Tax License.
- If you don't have an Employment Letter then you are only allowed to apply for a 3 month EP (Proposal) EOS which you can then change to an EB EOS once you have secured a Work Permit and Employment Letter with copy of the Patent Tax License.
- All subsequent EB EOS applications will require Work Permit, Employment Letter and Patent Tax License.
- Those legally married in Cambodia to a Cambodian Citizen, who do not work and aren't eligible for, or don't want, an ER EOS, they can still apply for the EB EOS based on marriage without the need to provide employment related supporting documentation including the WP. Different supporting documentation requirements apply.
- Those applying for an EB EOS as a non-working dependent spouse of their foreign husband/wife can still apply without the need to provide employment related supporting documentation including the WP. Different supporting documentation requirements apply.
- EG (General) EOS only available for 1 or 3 months, no more 6 month options.
- You can no longer convert from an EG EOS to any other EOS category in country.
Most of the above aren't actually policy changes, just stricter enforcement of the correct Immigration policy (Sub Decree 123) As always, let's see how it plays out.
Hello PSD Kiwi,
Apologies to always rely on you for this type of question. I arrived recently and was originally planning to do a tourist visa but the guy talked me into an E visa. I don't have a job yet so I was planning to go for the EG extension. Is it confirmed that all of the agents can only provide a 1 or 3 month EG extension? In which case it is not multiple entry? After the expiration of a 1 or 3 month EG extension can the person then get another EG extension or then the E visa is basically expired (as you said it can't be converted to an EB visa)?
I assume those married to a Cambodian, but not in Cambodia are not eligible for the marriage EB?

Confirmed, not valid for multi-entry, no you cannot apply for another EG EOS in countrydaeum_tnaot wrote: ↑Tue Jan 03, 2023 6:17 pm Is it confirmed that all of the agents can only provide a 1 or 3 month EG extension? You assume correctly, only available to those legally married in Cambodiadaeum_tnaot wrote: ↑Tue Jan 03, 2023 6:17 pm I assume those married to a Cambodian, but not in Cambodia are not eligible for the marriage EB?

Re: ER visa extension with travel agent...fishy
Thanks very much for explaining. If I apply for the EG EOS at the Immigration office opposite the airport, is there anything special that I need?
In my situation, would I be able to get the three month EP EOS that can be later converted to the EB EOS?

I talked to an agent. They said they can do a 6 month EB extension without the paperwork which is a little more expensive, and they also said they will do the EP 3 month extension. The claimed that the EG extension no longer exists.

I'm making a visa later this monthdaeum_tnaot wrote: ↑Wed Jan 04, 2023 3:56 pm I talked to an agent. My agent said that because my present visa extension was made prior to October 17th they don't require evidence of wp. I have wp anyhow so doesn't really matter either way
