Daughter Arrested Trying to Save Mom with $1M Dud Check
Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): The authorities have arrested a 25-year-old woman, Li Chicov Huy, who wrote out dud checks for more than US$1M (1 million US dollars) to pay for debts incurred by her mother.
The 25-year-old resident of Phsaruk Chhu district, Phnom Penh, was sent to the Phnom Penh Municipal Court on December 12, 2022 for attempting to pass off a check for $1 million in Phnom Penh during 2021. The woman's mother has previously been to prison for debt and fraud offenses, but was later released.
The daughter said that she wrote out the bad check because her mother owed $1M to a money lender for a business venture, and she was unable to pay it back.
