Cambodia News, Battambang Province: A young man, Yun Rina, 28, living in Phnom Touch village, Phnom Touch commune, Phnom Proek district, was about to get married when he suddenly disappeared 41 days ago, and now the remains of his body have been found some rocky scrubland, in the middle of a plantation 20 kms away.
The man's bride-to-be said that on October 31, at almost midnight, her fiancé called her for a while and then disappeared without a trace. And according to the parents of the deceased, their son has been missing since the night of October 31, 2022, without any news, and although the son took a phone with him when he went out, the phone kept ringing but was never answered.

Then, on the afternoon of December 10, 2022 in a potato field near the foot of Phnom Veng village in O'Long village, O'Rumduol commune, Phnom Preuk district, Battambang province, there was a macabre discovery, when the plantation owner came across the dead body which was no more than a skeleton. Near the body, a pair of blue gloves were left on a large stone.

According to the owner of the plantation, due to the frequent rains, he had to stop spraying weeds for months, so he had not been in the area recently, and he pointed out that the area is not easy for anyone to access because the small road is difficult to travel. Also, since the victim lives over 20 kilometers from where the body was found, it seems likely that someone must have known the small road in that area, and that the killer transported the body to that spot to hide it after the murder.

In this case, police are waiting for the competent experts to arrive and conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. However, the preliminary police investigation points to a clear case of homicide, and all possible links to the deceased are being explored.

Battambang Province: At the beginning of December, Battambang police began an investigation into the death of a person, a suspected murder case. However, the investigation of the authorities seems to have stalled, and up until December 14, police had still not identified any serious suspect in the murder.

Ko Sun Kaing, director of the Serious Crimes Police Office, could not be reached for comment on the afternoon of December 14. At first, he picked up the phone and said a few words, but when asked about the results of the investigation, the chief hung up his phone and turned off the telephone system, so he was unavailable for comment.

In this specific case, a skeleton was discovered in a nearby cassava plantation, at the foot of a mountain,on the afternoon of December 10 in O'Long village, O'Rom Dol commune, Phnom Proek district.

The man's body was identified as 28-year-old Yun Rina, a fishmonger from Phnom Touch village in Phnom Proek district. According to the family, the victim had a fiancée and was about to get married.
He has been missing from home since October 31, but on the afternoon of December 10, he was suddenly found as the remains of a skeleton in the middle of the cassava field, (after he had been missing for more than a month), at the foot of a mountain, on the afternoon of December 10 in O'Long village, O'Rom Dol commune, Phnom Proek district. Police are investigating as to how the victim arrived at the scene where the body was found, well off the beaten track.

Relatives told authorities that they had no idea about what happened to the victim, who left the house and disappeared with nothing except a mobile phone, which has not worked since the day of his disappearance. Regarding this case, Mr. Heng Barang, Phnom Proek District Inspector, said that the victim's family had filed a complaint to ask the authorities to help search for the missing man.

However, unfortunately, on the afternoon of December 10, the victim was found as a skeleton in the middle of a potato field . Mr. Heng Barang stated that after seeing the body, he questioned all the family about the incident, including interrogating the woman who was the victim's fiancé.
The inspector quoted the victim's fiancé as saying, "On October 31, the last time her fiancé came to see her, they had an argument and then he disappeared and did not answer his phone."

In connection with the death of the victim,Yun Rina, professional officers went to the scene on December 11 to examine the SOC, (scene of the crime), however, according to sources, no serious criminal office forces went to the scene at that time. And in fact, it was not until December 12 that the Bureau of Serious Crimes went to examine the SOC as part of a murder investigation.
