Crackdown on Illegal Thai Internet Services
Cambodia News (Poipet): A police raid took place on 29 November 2022, at a rented house in Kbal Spean 1 Village, Sangkat O'Chrov, Poipet City, when Banteay Meanchey Provincial Police and officials from the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications ran an operation to crack down on the illegal installation of antenna equipment.
The crackdown was led by HE Ngan Dany, General Secretariat of the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, the working group of the Telecommunications Regulator of Cambodia, and Mr. Lim Bun Sopheak, Deputy Prosecutor of the Poipet Provincial Court.
Police said that the joint police forces arrested the perpetrators and confiscated telecommunications equipment that they were using to install antennas, in order to download telephone and internet services from Thailand to sell in Cambodia illegally.

I guess Metfone and Smart were behind this, plus the people from the 'National Gateway'. This would be loophole to bypass that one.phuketrichard wrote: ↑Mon Dec 05, 2022 7:53 am isn't that how they get their tv stations ? stealing it from true vision?

With True Vision being stolen there's no conflict of interests, here there was.

Near the border it's basically impossible to even use Cambodian mobile networks anyway.
Maybe they can focus on fixing that so it's even a option.

Police find cross border cables serving call scammers in Cambodia in Sa Kaeo province;
https://www.bangkokpost.com/thailand/ge ... n-cambodiaPolice on Wednesday raided facilities in Sa Kaeo province and found numerous cross-border high-speed internet cables used to support call scammers in Cambodia.
Deputy national police chief Torsak Sukwimol led a force to search six locations in Aranyaprathet district of Sa Kaeo in a bid to suppress call scammers by cutting off their internet access.
The locations included a state-owned telecommunications service outlet, where police checked to see if any internet cables were illegally laid to extend internet services across the border.
Officers later found about 30 internet cables erected on power poles and running across the Thai-Cambodian border from behind the Ban Klong Luk border railway station, which stands beside a bridge across the Klong Luk border canal to Cambodia’s Poipet town.
