Lengthy Discussions, No Settlement: Mercedes vs Zoomer
Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): On 28 November 2022, a traffic accident occired at 8:10 pm along Northbridge Road, in front of Ratana Plaza Market, Sangkat Teuk Thla, Khan Sen Sok, Phnom Penh, in which a Chinese man driving a luxury car across the road ran into a Zoomer-X motorcycle, causing its rider to be severely injured.
Before the incident, a Chinese man, with both male and female passengers, was seen driving a black Mercedes (Phnom Penh 2BW-0611) along the Northbridge Road. When they arrived at the corner of Northbridge Road, he suddenly ran into a Zoomer-X motorcycle (Battambang 1T-8814) causing the rider to fall off the motorcycle and injure his finger. He was taken to the hospital by a friend.
Authorities arrived at the scene shortly after to record the incident, and moved both vehicles to the side of the road, where they tried to get both parties to settle. However, the two parties couldn’t come to an agreement about compensation for the accident, despite heated discussions for almost 3 hours.
The local authorities then contacted the municipal authorities to intervene; they took both parties to visit the victim at the hospital to discuss the dispute further.
