apple mac pro new battery
It is £199 for a new battery from apple but I can see many online for much less, is it a gamble to get one of them or stick with the official apple ? Anybody here done this ?
Re: apple mac pro new battery
I haven’t done it, yet, but I have a MacBook Air and when the battery needs to be replaced I’m taking it to an Apple Store.

What model, year?
With all of the interesting events with lithium batteries in recent years, I personally would be very cautious about anything not OEM.
I had the battery in my MacBookAir replaced quite some time back and just went with OEM.
One of the things with non-OEM parts is whether it is fully compatible. It may appear to meet the basic requirements, but does it truly match the computer? Some of the Chinese parts are shockingly bad- not just computer stuff
Do you have any details of some of the options?

I had one from a reputable repair place on a MacBook Pro. Worked fine for six months then wouldn’t take a charge then it randomly would. It’s still like that two years on.
It was $30 I think.

Thanks for the replies. Its a 2017 mac pro. I am gonna go for the official apple battery, I just talked to a mate who said getting a battery from the internet is hit and miss as mannaman has said, they may work for a while but then ?

I think that’s a good decision.2sevensclash wrote: ↑Sun Nov 27, 2022 8:51 pm Thanks for the replies. Its a 2017 mac pro. I am gonna go for the official apple battery
Wasn’t it the 2017 model which had a travel ban until Apple resolved their battery issues? Apple did a recall, and that would be covered with certified replacement parts. Aftermarket parts are unlikely to have the same level of care.

Not Sure about the travel ban.
If the battery goes right down (at the moment it lasts for about an hour or so) would it still work if plugged into the mains ?

Yes, there's a bypass for the mains. But if there's a powercut....2sevensclash wrote: ↑Mon Nov 28, 2022 6:06 pm Not Sure about the travel ban.

Re: apple mac pro new battery
Brilliant, so I can keep on using it on the mains without a new battery ?
