Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): At 3:00am, on 18 November 2022, two suspects on a motorbike tried to rob a woman of her motorbike and steal her mobile phone while she was waiting for her boyfriend to leave work, in front of Eden Shopping Mall along R6, Srah Chak commune, Daun Penh district, Phnom Penh.

The woman was riding a black Honda Scooter to pick up her boyfriend from work at Eden Shopping Mall, when two suspects on a Honda Dream motorbike came up behind her quietly in a sneaky way. Realising that something was wrong, the woman turned off the motorbike engine while the two men approached her.

The thieves chased the victim off her motorcycle, and demanded that she also give them her mobile phone. She refused outright and walked away from the motorcycle with its engine turned off, and because the victim's motorcycle works with a Smart Key, it couldn’t be started. The woman then shouted loudly “Help! Thieves, thieves!” in front of the mall, surprising the security guards and the people nearby, and the suspects panicked and drove off, leaving the victim's motorcycle behind.

By that time, a group of delivery men had seen what was happening, and the guys rode 7 or 8 motorbikes chasing and shouting after the two thieves. The robbers then pulled out a gun and fired off four or five shots at the people chasing them, but the chase continued, until one of the delivery men got shot and injured (with a flesh wound).


After the incident, the police arrived to question the witnesses and they took the woman owner of the motorcycle to the station to file a complaint.

Pretty noble of the delivery drivers to chase the unsuccessful thieves.. but when the perps have a gun...lucky it was only a flesh wound.

Sure seems to be more people with hand guns in Cambodia these days.

Hero delivery driver shot while trying to stop robbery of woman
A brave food delivery driver is seriously injured in hospital after being shot twice this morning after he tried to foil a robbery at a well known Phnom Penh crime hotspot

The incident happened at 3 am on November 18, 2022 at Eden Gardens , Srah Chak, Daun Penh, Phnom Penh.

According to the victim, a young woman, she was on her moto waiting for a friend at Eden Gardens.

Suddenly, two suspects riding a Dream motorcycle, pointed a pistol at the woman and demanded her moto.

The woman raised the alarm and a group of delivery drivers, who were waiting nearby, ran to the woman’s aid.

In the ensuing scuffle, the robbers shot one of the drivers twice in the knee

Police have named the brave young man as Mao Visal, 24 years old .

He was rushed to hospital and is now receiving medical attention to remove the bullets

Police are now searching for the 2 murderous louts who shot this brave youth.
