Chinese Language Option for Cambodian Secondary Schools

Post by CEOCambodiaNews »

What do you think of this MoU ? Smart decision by Cambodia, or soft power cultural pressure by China ?

Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): The Government of Cambodia and China have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the Joint Development of Chinese Language Learning Programs in Public Secondary Schools in Cambodia.
The signing ceremony for the Chinese Language Learning was one of the 18 documents signed under the presidency of the Prime Ministers of Cambodia and China, on the afternoon of November 9, 2022, during their meeting at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh.

Previously, only English and French were available as second languages to Cambodian middle or high school students. But in recent years, increasing numbers of Chinese people have come to do business and live in Cambodia, and Chinese-speaking Cambodians have found a lot of jobs.
