Modern vs classic cars
Modern vs classic cars
Saw a thread on a motoring forum and was shocked at the comparative size of modern cars.

Re: Modern vs classic cars
This proliferation of SUV's is absolutely ridiculous. Most of them are used to bring the kids to school and go to the pub. Meanwhile, cities across the world are choking on traffic.

Can you imagine PP in 10 years? It'll be fucked.

I'm on two wheels already, even for the school run - car just for the weekly grocery trip & getting out of town.

Now start comparing the size of the modern human to the size we were in the 1950's and 60's and you will understand why we need a truck size car to carry a 100 kg blob of fat to the supermarket that is just 100 m down the road.
Re: Modern vs classic cars
There's talk now that modern day testing (NCAP etc) is not accurate or relevant because the crash test dummies are not true representations of the general public anymore. In short they need to be fatter, heavier and broader.Tootsfriend wrote: ↑Tue Nov 08, 2022 12:13 pm Now start comparing the size of the modern human to the size we were in the 1950's and 60's and you will understand why we need a truck size car to carry a 100 kg blob of fat to the supermarket that is just 100 m down the road.
I use the car to take the kid out to the play area because it is safer than using a moto or TukTuk. I avoid going into town but only because there is nowhere to park. The traffic is not that bad compared to any other city, although this week it will be gidlocked!

Re: Modern vs classic cars
Modern cars have a whole lot more to them than the tin cans of 50 years ago. More comforts, electronics and far more safety features.
Silence, exile, and cunning.

Re: Modern vs classic cars
Just to mention a few I'd take any day over any 2022 car
56 caddie
or this 62 cobra
or this 1956 Porsche 356 A 1600 speedster
new cars are just no fun...

In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

Yeah, I miss all that fun of cars not starting or breaking down and waiting 3 hours for an AA guy in the freezing cold on the side of the A12 in February.
Plus all those tyres locking up under heavy braking, terrible handling, drum brakes, no air bags, rusty as fuck and you stereo getting nicked.
Ahh, those were the days...
