Why It is a Bad Idea to Drive at Night in Cambodia

Cambodia News, (Sihanoukville): At about 7 pm, on November 04, 2020, there was a traffic accident on National Road No. 5 in Prey Nob district,Sihanoukville province, when an unidentified man riding a black HONDA DREAM motorbike in direction from Phnom Penh towards Sihanoukville hit a buffalo which was crossing the road, causing the motorcyclist to die at the scene.

After the incident, police continue to search for the relatives of the deceased and the belongings are being temporarily kept at the Police Station.Police are also seeking the owner of the buffalo who is legally responsible for the accident.

Buffalo's and dogs are the least of your worries at night, it's the drunks behind the wheels of other cars you need to look out for.

so many reasons,
one is Khmers believe that discounting your rear/brake light on a motorcycles uses less gas

The closest to dying I have come was driving from SR to Poipet. Pitch black but I suddenly felt that I had to move into the oncoming lane. Good think too as someone had parked a steam roller on the road with no lights or any sort of warning signs. And the bloody thing wasn't yellow either, it was a dark green, perfectly camouflaged.

I love riding and driving at night, I have criss crossed this country between 10pm and 4am many many times over the years without incident

Less retards on the move

It's important to have good lights though, so you can see little things like Buffalo crossing from a safe distance
