Why Elites Like Greta Thunberg Hate Capitalism

Tell you what, people who think they have good arguments usually don't see the need to throw in insults, so your hysterical bitching about me in particular and members of this forum in general does nothing but undermine the point you're trying to make in between.orichá wrote: ↑Mon Nov 07, 2022 7:26 amYou are a [Mod edit: no need for insults]. Many child actresses and singers who rose to fame at a young age couldn't handle it and went completely off the rails; this is basically just the same happening to another kind of child star.

While I've always found Greta annoying, I'm not a climate change denier, but that isn't the issue here. I think she's going off the rails by shifting from promoting climate change mitigation to bringing down capitalism.
I get it, you despise capitalism, probably because it doesn't work for you. It does work for me though, so I'd simply say: your problem and your loss, Sir.

No wonder it doesn't sell any books.I am an author, and I see that the only writers who make money are those who sell-out by producing crass commercial dross that appeals to the lowest tastes -- murder mysteries, thrillers, and rubbishy romance fluff...

The northern Canadian forests are going to burn! I remember the time (40 years ago) we were told " the ice age is coming!"
Greta is a pawn. Scientific data is manipulated constantly to serve whatever agenda is being pushed. What happened to the hole in the ozone?

It's still there and still pretty big but it's thought to be slowly on the mend.

So, what's the viable alternative, oh so enlightened one?orichá wrote: ↑Mon Nov 07, 2022 7:16 amImpotent and very probably drunken screechingJerry Atrick wrote: ↑Sun Nov 06, 2022 3:57 pm
Free markets have lifted millions out of poverty, liberated women, and protected the environment. Why, then, are so many progressives against them?
Considering the worlds largest polluter by a scale of many is communist China I'm curious to see what hyperbolic screeching you come up with this time
Re: Why Elites Like Greta Thunberg Hate Capitalism
I'm not sure the political stance has anything to do with how much pollution they produce. In a way some parts are developing whilst the rest has developed the same, or more, than the west.Jerry Atrick wrote: ↑Mon Nov 07, 2022 1:13 pmSo, what's the viable alternative, oh so enlightened one?orichá wrote: ↑Mon Nov 07, 2022 7:16 amImpotent and very probably drunken screechingJerry Atrick wrote: ↑Sun Nov 06, 2022 3:57 pm

It also has 1.4 billion souls. That's a lot of people to make stuff for and keep warm.
Besides which, if the socialist west stopped buying that communist stuff then they would produce less pollution. Which I find a little ironic really.
People of the world, spice up your life.

Yeah, China, India and a number of eastern nations produce mass quantities of goods which are then sold the world over, many in the so called westmannanman wrote: ↑Mon Nov 07, 2022 1:40 pmI'm not sure the political stance has anything to do with how much pollution they produce. In fact - an average Chinese person produces less pollution than the average north American - but the industrial waste from China dwarves that of almost every other country through a failure to comply with any of the international treaties on transnational boundary pollution
Those treaties, interestingly enough, being a product of a regulatory capitalist system
The easiest way to reduce human pollution and environment damage isn't installing socialist or capitalist leaders

Per capita, China actually pollutes a lot less than most western countries, It's just that there are so many of them.Jerry Atrick wrote: ↑Mon Nov 07, 2022 1:13 pmSo, what's the viable alternative, oh so enlightened one?orichá wrote: ↑Mon Nov 07, 2022 7:16 amImpotent and very probably drunken screechingJerry Atrick wrote: ↑Sun Nov 06, 2022 3:57 pm

And of the pollution they do produce, a lot of that is from manufacturing which has been outsourced to them from the west.
So essentially, we sent them our manufacturing jobs and the pollution that produces.
