Cambodia News, (Svay Rieng): The contractor responsible for the construction of Le Macau Casino (Building12) in Bavet city has not paid the workers their wages, and Cheng Bunthang, CEO of Le Macau Hotel and Casino, refuses to pay them. Mr. Cheng Bunthang, General Director of Le Macau Hotel and Casino, Bavet City, said that he made a construction contract with a contractor named Suth Vichet, living in Trapeang Chhouk village, Sangkat Teuk Thla, Khan Sen Sok, Phnom Penh, for the building of Le Macau Casino (Building12), and it is he who received the money from the hotel/casino company to pay the construction expenses.

The protests were started by a group of construction workers responsible for the construction of Le Macau Casino (Building12), Bavet City, because the company has not paid their wages for months. 18 workers claim that they are owed over $40,000 pay for 6 months work, and they have asked the company (Le Macau Casino) to step in and help them, but despite the protests, Le Macau Casino company has refused to help settle the dispute, saying that the unpaid wages are not their responsibility.

Construction workers responsible for the construction of Le Macau Casino in Bavet City say they have no money left, so they will continue to protest until they find justice and will seek the intervention of Samdech Techo HE, Prime Minister of Cambodia.

The contractor Suth Vichet has not answered invitations to discuss the problem with Bavet City Hall, and Cheng Bunthang, director general of Le Macau Hotel and Casino in Bavet City, could not be reached for comment.
