the most popular Halloween costume in the islands

Thailand is Cambodia's neighbor to the West, and this forum is dedicated to Thai news, stories, reviews, blogs, videos, Thai people and anything else related to the country. A lot of expats have both lived and worked in Cambodia and Thailand, and this area is a place to discuss all aspects of life in Thailand and what's going on there. Most topics are about Bangkok and Pattaya because of their larger populations of expatriates and tourists in those cities, but this is for all things Thai.

Told a mate of mine years ago if he ever sees me in elephant pants to kindly shot me.

I was so hoping that elephant pants would have gone out of fashion during Covid but virtually the very first tourist I saw here in Sa Pa was wearing a pair (as well as a Vietnamese conical hat and carrying a large plastic bottle of water. Ticked all the boxes).

Everyone who’s ever been anywhere was a tourist at some point.

Don’t be a snob.

Start worrying when your pants will fit an elephant, I say.

I have absolutely no problem being a tourist, I actually embrace it. But elephant pants, along with crocs, are a fashion disaster.

Crocs are not about fashion, they’re about practicality.
Here in the provinces they’re ideal, waterproof, mud resistant, scuff resistant, don’t mildew or rot, they float, offer better protection from stubbed toes than flip flops (and stay on your feet better) they’re acceptable for wearing to provincial weddings, and I’m perfectly happy to wear them in town.
I literally haven’t worn anything else for three years.
