Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): A young woman was victim of a phone-snatching by three suspects at 1:25am on October 27, 2022 at the base of Stung Meanchey flyover along Street 217, Sangkat Stung Meanchey II, Khan Meanchey, Phnom Penh.

According to the victim, before the incident, she drove from the province to Phnom Penh with a friend who dropped her at the end of the Stung Meanchey West Bridge. She then took the phone out of her pocket to call her boyfriend to pick her up when suddenly, three men on a motorbike, drove past, snatched the iPhone 11pro max from her hand, and fled the scene.

The victim cried and shouted out for help, but there were no police in the area. A tuktuk driver stopped to pick up the woman and chased after the suspects, but despite the chase, the three thieves escaped into the night with the iphone.

The tuktuk driver then took the young womanto file a complaint at the Stung Meanchey II Administrative Police Station in the hope that the police would find and arrest the suspects. The Stung Meanchey flyover area has been a known hotspot for thieves for some time now, particularly at night. However, despite the area's notorious insecurity, after dark the police officers from the local Stung Meanchey II station are usually nowhere to be seen.

Is there not a program embedded in the IPhone 11 to track the location of the phone ?

Yes, however;
1) It has to be turned on (lots of locals don’t have Apple accounts)
2) You’ll need a compatible device to login and search.
3) Doesn’t have history feature
3) Part of the reason the thieves snatch the phone whilst in use. So they can disable that facility plus turn off passport protection
4) Turning the phone off will disable it.

Out at 1am on her own in a dead part of town. Not very smart.
People of the world, spice up your life.
