KTV worker criticises ‘mean’ clients who do not tip waitresses


‘Adult’ KTVs – an omnipresent, although often hidden, feature of Cambodian nightlife – have had some light thrown onto their workings via a widely commented social media post from a KTV worker, who criticises male clients who do not tip the often provocatively attired waitresses with the appropriate amount of money

The social media post was made on October 22, 2022 by social media user “Bee Love TaLea” – who is a well known doyenne of the Cambodian KTV scene.

In the message, “Bee Love TaLea” writes disparagingly of ‘mean’ clients who do not tip with large ammounts of money, saying:

”2022 and enter the KTV to give a woman $ 5, the chief ten thousand riel, if you do not know how to spend money, sing, shout at your wife at home, and hug your wife ….. do not wonder why girls like only the Chinese, who know how to spend money to go to KTV. “

The response to her message has been mixed, with some commenters criticising her for apparently preferring Chinese and foreign clients – whilst other commenters agree, saying that men who use KTVs should tip properly.

Tipping is an American thing so they can pay low wages

Common in many European countries as well (for the same reasons).

I grew up in amelica ! Yea , they can live better off tips !
No wonder they expect tips here then , and they accept our dollars !
I am happy to give a buck , and a buck and a quarter to the cuties .
