Planning to visit Patong next week - is that a no-no now?
Hello all
I was planning to visit Patong next week but my friend who lives there says the Kathu to Patong road is closed. If I get a plane down to Phuket, and I going to be stuck in Phuket city and not be able to get to Patong?
Any assistance would be appreciated.

Patong hill is closed ( kathu-patong) an the road between Kamala and Patong was closed cause of a slide yesterday, would imagine this will be cleared in a a day at most.
than taxi and smart bus from airport, goes down the west coast to Patong.
also the road between Patong and Karon/kata/chalong is open
Shit happens
FYI: great time, low tourists numbers an baht is around 38.2=$1

Officials estimate that the Kathu-Patong road will reopen in one week to vehicles.

while not really good news for tourists its great news for locals as many thai's who work in Patong, live in Phuket city and or Kathu where rents are alot lower
from the airport no hassle taking the west coast road , 800 baht to Patong with a taxi or 100 baht via the smart bus
