Well then the lesson to take from this, and other more recent examples (Jan 6 jumps to mind), is simple. Words and accusations can have very real, serious consequences. If you're going to make serious allegations make sure you can back them up with proof. If you go online making up unfounded lies based on nothing, and people are harmed as a result, the consequences of your actions are on you. When you play stupid games, you win stupid prizes.Big Daikon wrote: ↑Thu Oct 13, 2022 9:51 amThis is a concern of mine. Lawsuits like this can open a can of worms leading to more (and more ridiculous) accusations of defamation.NotYourUncle wrote: ↑Thu Oct 13, 2022 9:08 amDon't worry, they'll come after you too eventually...Random Dude wrote: ↑Thu Oct 13, 2022 3:24 am Good. Not just because he's a despicable piece of shit, but also because (hopefully) it'll make others like him think twice before doing the same thing.
PS-I am not a fan of Alex Jones.
I think public figures being allowed to continue spewing what they often know are dangerous lies goes way beyond freedom of speech. If, in the future, you or I baselessly accuse someone of something and they're harmed because of it we'd deserve to be held accountable too.

I would agree with that. Note the examples of Nick Sandmann and Kyle Rittenhouse. Sandmann won one settlement and Rittenhouse's suit is pending.Random Dude wrote: ↑Thu Oct 13, 2022 10:21 am Words and accusations can have very real, serious consequences. Just look at the figures of those who still believe in trump despite tons of evidence he's a cheap conman, it's exactly the same demographics.

Trump is still a major political figure and he's still making noises about running for POTUS again so he's hardly a non-entity, and he's still going on about how the last election was stolen from him, to the point where it's gone beyond the point of being absurd. How is pointing that out TDS?CaptainCanuck wrote: ↑Thu Oct 13, 2022 11:59 amAlways with the TDS ... And you guys continue to expect to be considered with credibility .... Serious question... after all Trump's stupidity, lies, things like stealing top secret documents, trying to subvert an election, multiple scandals .. how can you still say that anyone who thinks he's a bullshit artist is suffering from 'TDS'?. How can you yourself, an obvious Trump supporter, expect to be treated with credibility?

Uh oh, I haven't entered the uneducated in life experiences blog, have I?
Oh wait someone posted a link to CNN News, the"news" source that has lost 90 percent of its viewership since start of 2022. Yes, I have entered that type of vlog.
