Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Driver on a Hurry Ignores Speed Limit Sign

Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): At 10:50 pm on October 11, 2022, a traffic accident occured when a speeding car hit a stone road barrier and knocked over the "speed limit 20" sign placed at the entrance to the 5 Makara flyover along Street 289, in Sangkat Toek Laok I, Khan Toul Kork, Phnom Penh.

Before the incident, a drunk man was seen driving a silver Toyota Prius, with license plate Phnom Penh 2AT-816, traveling along Route 289 from north to south at high speed, ignoring the road sign until he crashed into it. The car was so severely damaged at the front that the driver was unable to drive away, so he got out of the car and left the accident scene on foot before the cops arrived.

After the incident, the competent experts came down to measure and tow away the vehicle, which will be stored at the Land Traffic Office of the Phnom Penh Municipal Police, until the driver comes to claim it (and pay for the damaged property.)

Is it cheaper to just buy another car than recover your car and pay for the damage, is this what happens?
