EB visa exentions

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. EB visa exentions

Post by phuketrichard »

Just out from Call kim and agent i use in Kampot

- If you arrive with an ordinary (Business) visa and wanted to extend a long term (1year) EB visa, you are required to have a copy of your Work Permit card, Employment Letter and Patent Tax License.
-If you don't have a Work Permit then you are only allowed to extend for 6 months, as long as you have your Employement Letter and Patent Tax License.
-If you don't have an Employment Letter then you are allowed only to extend for a 3 month EP visa which you can then change to an EB type once you have secured a Work Permit and Employment Letter with copy of the Patent Tax License.
-EG options is now can extend up to 3 months one time only.
-All EB second time and thereafter extensions have to have Work Permit, Employment Letter and Patent Tax License.
-If you are Renewing your E type Visa after October 17, 2022, this will directly affect you.

Question to those of you married but under 55>
How do you stay long term?
In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

EP is the "Proposal" Extension of Stay, initially was supposed to be for those coming here to investigate/seek business opportunities.

Most of those requirements are nothing new, they are just going to be strictly enforced. As always though, let's see how long that enforcement actually lasts.

I was sceptical about the announcement from Call Kim at first, as she has been providing some very bad/completely incorrect advice to people the last couple years, however I have liaised with some other agents I know and they have all received the same info from the DoI.

EB EOS based on marriage to a Cambodian Citizen, with an official Cambodian Marriage Certificate. I am seeking clarification on whether this has been affected, will update once I have clarification.

Every or every second year they come out and say that now they actually going to start enforce it so i don't believe it until i been to my agent and she say the usual 20$ extra won't do it or i start hear about people geting rejected.

Lucky Lucky told me 2 1/2 years ago i needed work permit next time i wanted to renew again but then i used same agent as my friend use instead and it was no problem.

Depends who you ask.

Agreed...like I said, time will tell. They may even strictly enforce it for a short period of time, and then go back to normal, you just never know. But at the end of the day, easiest thing to do if you want to stay here long term is to do it the right way.

Anybody getting hit by this?

Hearing rumors of people being called up and charged several hundred extra even though they already have 1 year visas.
