We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. Says he was in transit to Thailand. Was he luckier getting caught in Cambodia than Thailand?

From what I have heard from first hand subjects, yes, Cambodian jails are easier than Thailand. He's got that contrition look, maybe he has an uncle too.

Who would try to smuggle 1KG of ketamine from here to Thailand? Is it so much more valuable there than here?

Airports have all the equipment needed to find this stuff easily, it makes no sense. I am fairly sure they screen all checked in baggage, not just arriving luggage, so you are just asking to get caught.

It must be. I remember friends smuggling Ketamine from here to Thailand over 20 years ago when it was easy to get here in pharmacies. Nowadays it's mostly illicitly produced stuff from Myananmar/ China/ maybe here.

I suppose it was an express delivery hence the airplane as chosen method of transport. Or maybe the mule paid off the wrong people for a safe passage through customs.
