30Yo Man Beats His 16Yo Wife Who Wants Divorce

Cambodia News (Battambang Province): On October 3, 2022, a 30-year-old man, Reun Sokbun was arrested and accused of beating his 16-year-old wife, Pheng Sreynich, after she said she would divorce him. They are both from Boeung Rang village, Sangkat Ormal, Battambang city/province.
After interrogation by the police, the suspect admitted to beating his young wife with a helmet. The victim suffered bruises and swelling to the head, neck, back, and arms.
The suspect is being held in custody for further proceedings.

Except changing the chances an Adult western male will beat to death his adult Khmer wife. Low, especially after having to jump through the 3 ring circus together to ensure a long, happy marriage.

Of course lots of Adult Westerns males never formally marry Adult Khmer women. The threshold to beat to death (or just run away) is a lot lower without the shared struggle.
