How to meet people?

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

How to meet people?

Post by mortemistrata »

Hello,

So sorry if this is not the right place to ask. I accepted a teaching job at a private school, recently got housing situated, and flight booked. I'm just a little nervous to be doing this on my own, and most of the facebook groups I found are dead or focused on selling things. Where can I meet other expats? Or just people in general who are friendly and won't mind the language barrier? I'm 21, from Georgia in the US, and have worked as a nanny for the past few years. I like getting tattoos, riding motorcycles, reading, and trying new beers! I'd really appreciate getting to know some people prior to, or soon after moving. Any age is fine, I just would like to have some company (and maybe some people willing to answer stupid questions for me).

Thanks

I'll take you out for dinner and to Oscar's - you'll meet some really cool people :)
Let me know when you're in town.

Maybe not, she is from Georgia in the USA, not Georgia between Europe and Asia.

You can meet people at your place of employment, bars, gyms, sports clubs, cross-stich clubs, tinder, etc...same as you'd meet people anywhere else.

LOL...never used it personally so have no clue, just thought it was what all the kids used these days to meet people. Any regional alternatives you can recommend to the OP?

From some of the comments I’ve heard, I thought that was one of its attractions
