Dumb simple question, buying fuel at a gas station with a jerry can?

Post by SlowJoe »

Hi,

I went to buy from the gas station (Total & PTT) but they wouldn't sell me fuel to go in a 5 litre bottle I brought with me. They said it has to be in a bike or car only (we spoke Khmer, so it wasn't a "dumb barang issue").

Would have put it in my bike, but that's the problem, I run 2 stroke premix and I ideally want to mix the oil in the 5 litre bottle BEFOREHAND, not carry an oil bottle with me and guess how much my tank is going to take before they brim it. I got the ratio a bit wrong last tank, so I'm a bit of a smoke show and am down on power.

Sorry for the dumb question, but besides buying 1 litre bottles from Coke bottle sellers (which i don't want to do because I've had running issues before), does anyone have a good work around to getting fuel in a jerry can here?

Thanks,
Joe

I have bought fuel at Total kampot using my 30L jerry can without issue

Buy a red jerry can and then go fill it at the servo?

Maybe their issue with me is that I had a 5L empty bottle of Mr. Muscle cleaner, :D

Good to know though, maybe I'll grab one of those plastic 10L things and try again maybe.

It’s good to know that in Cambodia, the safe handling and transportation of fuel is of paramount importance

I've bought gas for a two stroke many times in Jerry cans. Just go to a different station.
