Who actually still lives in Cambodia?

Ask us anything. Cambodia Expats Online has a huge community of long-term expats that can answer any question you may have about life in Cambodia. Have some questions you want to ask before you move to Cambodia? Ask them here. Our community can also answer any questions you have about how to find a job or what kind of work is available for expats in Cambodia, whether you're looking for info about Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, or anywhere else in the Kingdom. You're also welcome to ask about visa and work permit questions as well, as the immigration rules change often, especially since COVID-19. Don't be shy, ask CEO's community anything!

Why? Does it feel to you like everyone's left?

Haven't frequented the forums for a while now, but am still here. We are making plans to move next year though.

Well, next time someone is in hospital and needs help, I know who to call on so I don't have to carry a monumental load on my own ;)
I've felt like the only expat in town this week.

Just read that thread in the last 10 minutes. Didn't know this when I had made that comment.

Thanks for helping Andy. I have found you really need some good local friends here. Other expats will mostly not help.

I am in Cambodia too, btw. Just had surgery, so can relate to being incapacitated & needing help.

I'm just interjecting, having gone through a bit of an "end of the world" moment myself recently...

...I've found some very kind anonymous souls who reached out to me to help me get back on my feet in my darkest times, HOWEVER, I've also found people I've known for years who I thought were trustworthy and good friends to totally flake out when I needed help the most.

Probably the worst part for me was watching people's true colours emerge which I had been blind to. Major wake up call for me and taught me how to look for better people to surround myself in my life.

EDIT: Also just want to add @rozzieoz that some people are not in a position to help, so there's always that too. I'm not in a position to ride from Kampot to Phnom Penh and help someone out. It's nothing personal, it's just that some people aren't in a position to be helpful and I'd be one of those. I'd get in the way more than anything.

Like I have written in the comment box "your help for me is much appreciated" same goes for the other CEO members who have helped me in this situation I unfortunately find myself.
Always "hope" but never "expect".
