Maggie Tra will release a new album, ‘Kingdom Of Her’, via her SYS Sister Sounds label this month. Listen to the title track below.

The Australia-born Khmer/Viet DJ and producer follows her recent single ‘Apsara’ with a 10 track album that pays tribute to her Cambodian roots and to her mother. Blending traditional music samples and personal field recordings with punchy house, disco and techno beats, Tra expands on her trademark sound to explore personal themes, while still keeping a foot firmly on the dancefloor.

Not my cuppa’ however I hope plenty do appreciate where I don’t
Despite what angsta states, it’s clear from reading through his posts that angsta supports the free FreePalestine movement.

When I was in high school we hired DJ’s to play vinyl records at weddings and dances. They had a van full of equipment and hundreds of records in crates. They had two turntables and would cue up on one while the other played so the sound was seamless. They also announced the winner of some contest or 50/50 draw. The job evolved to cassettes and they had their play lists made up for any occasion.

One thing any audiophile NEVER did ever was to touch the vinyl - it was an art to remove it from the cover and place it on the turntable.

Wtf is a dj now I have no idea - they have something that resembles a record player and they touch it a lot and move it back and forth. What is the talent required? Do they somehow produce original music from other music or do they rap in between songs?
Stay classy na
