Cambodia News, (Stung Treng): The police force of Siem Pang district on August 29, 2022, sent a military officer to the Provincial Prosecutor's Office for questioning in connection with the case of attempted murder. The man fired a gun at his wife, causing serious injuries in the abdomen in Pha Bang village, Thmor Keo commune, Siem Pang district. She was taken to hospital by ambulance.

According to the report of the Siem Pang district police, the suspect was named Wei Chhom, 71 years old, a military officer who served in the 382nd Brigade in Preah Vihear province, and his wife, Pean Bouvien, 44, is a farmer. Both of them live in Pha Bang village, Thmor Keo commune, Siem Pang district, Stung Treng province.

The military officer is known to have a bad temper, and he was often jealous of his younger wife. He shot her in the torso in a fit of anger, and was subsequently arrested on August 26, 2022 at their house in Pha Bang village.

Is there a lot of corruption in the military still? Did he feel like he could get away with it like in the old days?

It seems that there were grounds for the husband's jealousy, (but of course this is no excuse for shooting his wife.)

A military officer is in custody after he shot his wife after discovering her in flagrante with another man in a barn.
The incident occurred on August 26, 2020 at a barn in Phabang village, Tmekeo commune, Siem Pang district, Steung Treng province.

According to the police report, Vai Chhom, who works in the military service at Veerak 2 of the Intervention Force No. 7, shot his wife – Pean Bowien of Phabang Village, Tmekeo Commune, Siem Pang District, Stung Treng Province – after discovering her having sex with another man in the barn.
