End of the world is coming to Cambodia

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. End of the world is coming to Cambodia

Post by newkidontheblock »

Missus has been following on Facebook for the past few days. Anyone else seen this?

Apparently a politician of the Bell Party has announced that the end of the world is nigh. A great flood will sweep the earth clean. Money will be useless, possessions will be useless. Phnom Penh will be flooded first. The only place safe in the world is Kulen mountain.

Apparently a lot of Khmer have heeded his call, they’ve sold their cows and all their possessions and have settled at the foot of Kulen, where it will be safe.

The Cambodian Ambassador to South Korea yesterday had to issue a statement to Cambodians living there informing them that there was no truth to the flooding rumours and there is no need to flee South Korea as apparently there were hundreds who were planning to immediately leave their jobs and flee to the safety of Siem Reap

In other news (probably), a politician from the Bell Party has bought a lot of cows at fire-sale prices and is about to get rich selling them back to the farmers for a healthy profit and his brother-in-law is making a killing selling food, water and tents to settlers at the foot of Mount Kulen.

NZ just got hit by an atmospheric river which caused flooding unlike anything seen before, and Pakistan has just declared a national emergency due to monsoons of an 'unprecedented magnitude'.

Some politician declaring end of times is obviously over the top, but still... we're experiencing strange weather everywhere.

Yeah. When London get several days of 30-40c and then torrential rains cause extensive flooding - very similar to tropical climates - and much of southern Europe have unprecedented heatwave and wildfires that cover an area the size of Belgium, you have to figure that this global warming / climate change might have some basis in fact.

I just watched the film Don't Look Up. Maybe the climate change comet is finally coming into view with the naked eye.

Sorry precious.
Think extreme weather patterns and connect the dots.
