ahhh Cambodians
"just the facts, Mam"
wifes 12 year old nephew was on his way to Soccer practice on the main kep road on mom's 2020 honda dream.
3 teenagers pulled up in front of him an stopped him, one got off his bike to ask directions while the other went behind him, struck him on the back of his head knocking him down while the other got on the bike and away they went>
20 seconds...
Police told them, not much they can do....

Happens more often in Thailand, very dangerous country where most shouldn't even leave the hotel without an armed guard!

These types of smash and grab crimes can end up causing serious injury for what is an intended economic crime only.

Re: ahhh Cambodians
Not easy indeed. No cameras around I suppose and 3 teens on a bike is a vague description over here.phuketrichard wrote: ↑Wed Aug 24, 2022 10:01 amHOW< as soon a a bike is stolen the plate comes off>

So, not much they can do then

Re: ahhh Cambodians
If it is so easy to just switch the plates and carry on, it is no surprise that it is such a common crime. This is not a chick or the egg dilemma.
How do you insure against that? Do insurance companies pay out for such thefts?

I know we don't need a license to ride the smaller 125cc motorbikes any longer, but is there a legal age you're allowed to ride them on the streets, or does anything go now?
