Cambodia News (Sihanoukville): On 17 August 2022, at 3:00 pm, the police force of Preah Sihanouk City Police Inspectorate arrested a 35-year-old male suspect, Chea Sinoeun, who was stealing money from a car while the police were patrolling the streets. The suspect confessed to the police that he was hooked on gambling, so he would steal from cars to pay for his habit.

Under interrogation, the suspect admitted that he had committed four similar acts in the past, where he would drive around Sihanoukville on his motorbike, looking for unlocked cars to steal from.

- For the first time, on 30 July 2022, at 11:30am, when he arrived at Phsar Leu the suspect saw a Korean car with a box of products parked near the Phsar Leu traffic light, and noticed that the car had its windows open, while its owner was loading and unloading at the back of the car. So the thief went up and saw a black backpack in the cabin, which he stole. He then drove to a vacant lot near the Ochheuteal military base and opened the bag to find more than 2,000 US dollars and 70,000 Khmer Riel and a cash register.
He threw the bag and the cash register away, and went to gamble the cash money at a casino where he lost it all.

-The second time in July 2022, at around 11 noon, the thief rode saw another Korean car carrying products for sale and parked at the market. The vehicle was unlocked, and he stole more than USD 400, which was stuffed in the trunk of the car. Again,he gambled the stolen money away.

- The third time, on 13 August 2022, at 11 noon, he saw a white Star Rich car parked in front of a mobile phone shop. He opened the car door and opened the red backpack in it which contained around USD 400. He took the backpack with him and threw it little beyond the Build Bright school after taking the money. Again the money was all spent and lost in casino games.

-The 4th time, on 16 August 2022, at 16:00, he saw an unlocked Alphard parked on the sidewalk near the car wash. This time the man was not so lucky; He stole a black handbag, which only contained a few thousand Khmer Riels and 2 old phones with broken screens. He threw away the phone and spent the money.
The suspect is currently being held at the Sihanoukville Inspectorate for questioning and processing.
