It happened; RIP AndyKK

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. I can’t go today unfortunately but could possibly make it on Monday, if that’s not too late. :(

Thank you. My brother has sent me the video also as he has contact with Usha, it is extremely worrying. Unfortunately I cannot travel to Cambodia due to various reasons so I'm at a loss with what to do. Maybe I should try contacting the embassy? Although I would seem they've been very unhelpful as it is? I've literally only recently found out about all this, I wish I had more time. I've sent Usha a message on Facebook, thank you for your pm. And thank you everyone for showing support ect for my father.

I sent an email to the embassy today. Auto reply says it won’t be read until Monday. The +855 contact number published on their FB page and website is for emergencies. Up to you if you try to call.

They haven’t been unhelpful. They just have limits to how they can assist in matters like this. They spoke with the hospital in the past couple of weeks, which is more than I would have expected based on past behaviour.

Andy does not want to move is the problem, as he feels he is comfortable there and is worried about additional expense if he moves to a private hospital
I advised him to move weeks ago and also to contact the American dr ( forget his name) in PP for a second opinion but......

seems ur having better luck with the embassy ( and on a weekend as well) than Andy has

If there's a chance that moving to a better equipped hospital can make him better then I will push that all the way. We just need to get him well enough to bring him home. In the video he doesn't look very comfortable and it pains me a lot to see that. I was pleasantly surprised with the embassy, the person I got passed to had his information already for me. He's working till 5pm uk time today and is going to try update me ASAP once he's spoken to the hospital, he's just not 100% sure he'll get much with it being the weekend. I will keep you updated and if you hear anything before me from Usha then please let me know. Thank you.

Update - my dad came off the ventilator but later in the day he had to go back on it because his oxygen levels in his blood was too low. I'm hoping the embassy will call me back tomorrow, if not then I'll try them again. If anyone can visit him then please feel free to do so. If I could, I would be there but it's very difficult for me for various reasons. I just need him to get well enough to come home then I can look after him properly. It's a very difficult time for me and my brother right now.

Unfortunately, it is not likely he will get well enough to travel home.

well, obviously I have no idea. I just see that he has worsened during his time in hospital. I also read his own comments where he says what is required in order for him to be able to fly home. I also read it doesn't seem likely he'll be sourcing the oxygen required even if he was released from the hospital.

It is harsh to make comments like I did, but people may choose to make different decisions if they realise the full gravity of the situation.
Maybe I shouldn't say anything, given that it's all a big unknown. I'll gauge that from how others comment on this occasion.
