What is Your Favorite Place in Cambodia?

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

You are on the right path to be nominated for the CEO Ladies Creep Award.

Beautiful scenery, OD!
The fact that you know that makes you runner up.

I just had a great/disturbing mental image that involved you reenacting the Triple Lindy scene from Back to School... into a plate of ribs.

Rooftop. River view. BBQ. Beer Lao. Cool buzz. Cool breeze. Someone soft and brown. Music (even traditional Khmer pop songs. Yeah, like that). Repeat for seven days, then continue.

A small place, with a nice sun terrace, overlooking the sea. Not on the beach but set back and above, but close enough to walk to a small village to buy fresh sea food but far enough away to enjoy the peace and quiet.

Cooking on the terrace, entertaining guests, drinking the odd ice cold beer, sitting back and just chilling, between regular postings on CEO, of course. Terms and Conditions may apply

I've contemplated this question since it was posted but still can't come up with an answer... I like so many places here, so it's hard to choose. There are tons of nice "Aaaaah" moments in small towns like Stung Treng or Sisophon. Sitting along a river drinking beer or eating some food. Watching a sunset in Prey Veng... Those places seem magical in the moment and you feel totally relaxed and at peace with yourself, but I don't think I'd like to live there for more than 2 weeks. So a "favourite place" is pretty hard to pinpoint... Still undecided.

And also Otres Beach for me. It's easy to get to. They still have cheap bungalows on Otres Beach, and the road to get there is fully paved now.

Definitely a relaxing place to chill out all day and night.

And there's a lot more things to do there now. They have canoes and kayaks for rent, boat trips, late night bars (which is a plus unless your guesthouse is right next to one and you're trying to sleep).

And I think we've been paying about $3 for a TukTuk from Serendipity/Orcheateal beach to Otres Beach, one way.

problem is then ur stick there an they can charge what they want to take u back,
ur better off renting a bike for $5/day

Another great place is siting on Rony's sailboat off a small deserted island while his wife prepares the fish we caught!!!

Yeah, I usually get the phone number of the guy that drops us/me off at Otres Beach and they'll usually come pick you up for the same price. Unless it's after dark. Then they think they're driving a stretch limo and charge accordingly.
