competent big bike mechanic in 2022 or parts supplier in Phnom Penh?

Have a car, truck, motorcycle, or bicycle you'd like to sell? List it here for free. Heck, you can even buy and sell tuktuks or your pink Scoopy here. Remember, you need a driver's license in Cambodia for cars, trucks, and any motorbike that's over 125cc. And always wear a helmet!

competent big bike mechanic in 2022 or parts supplier in Phnom Penh?

Post by Ian »

Hi, it's been a few years since I have needed the services of a competent and trustworthy mechanic to work on a DR650. Anyone got any recommendations? I am equipped and able to do most general maintenance myself if anyone knows of a place to source parts such as chains sprockets, bearings, carby kits etc. Not sure if any of the old players like Dara, Bernard, or the others are still in the game,
Cheers.

I added 'Phnom Penh' to your title, so that hopefully someone who knows anything will find this easier. :beer1:

Unless members can help you here, I would try on:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/motorbikeforumcambodia
https://www.facebook.com/groups/mototom

The later is a smaller group for big bikes and the admin there is pretty helpful.

Good luck.

Street 432, near the total by street 271. Sang moto shop. One of the young guys there, Limhong, speaks pretty good English. They're competent and honest workers.

Tony is shut since 2019

Angkor bikes are total shit

Dara - meh, his brother Lyda avoid

Bernard - always premium price for lower quality work (assuming he's even still open, not heard that name for years)

There's some millennial barang with a fancy fchamcy new shop that appears very well equipped that is worth a try; but I have no idea if they are competent or honest

And there's a frenchie place in TTP that again looks nice but they gouge on parts cost so I don't use

I would prob recommend Reaksmey Moto; he's honest and good work and good parts; but he has moved from russian bvld and I dunno where new shop is

Bernard has been out of the game for years.

For a DR, I'd go to Chek's, same street as Sang but South Side ans closer to the pagoda. He's more likely to have parts available.

Yeah, but in the services provided in this very city, I don't think they are that bad either.
Do you have some other recommendations?
