Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. Cambodia News (Takeo Province): According to TVK, on the morning of August 7, 2022, the authorities inspected the damages caused by a land collapse that destroyed the bridge that links Samrong and Angkor Borey districts together. The landslide was caused by heavy rainfall.
The collapse has halted the traffic between the 2 districts, and the bridge has been closed for 2 to 3 days to allow the engineering teams to repair it.

I blame it on the ancient Roman's for not handing down their road making skills to Cambodia.
Stone baby, use some stones.

If they can repair it within 2-3 days as claimed, that's pretty impressive.

All it takes is a few truckloads of soil and some compressing, so it seems.

The bridge is perfectly fine; it's just the road that leads to it that's fubared

"The landslide was caused by heavy rainfall".

Well how about substandard design and material?
Might be the same company involved in the maintenance of NR 3 from Sihanoukville to Kampot.

No rebar? No reinforced concrete? Just packed earth and then road on top? Packed earth is ancient technology used to build castles and the Great Wall of China.

Surely there are better methods available to the Kingdom of Wonder?

Stone baby, use some stones.
A friend and his neighbours built a stone road near Battambong for the KR. It's still there.

Of course there are but Cambodia is a developing country no? Some members seem to hang onto the belief that it's just not good enough and just love to point out where the local standards are..ahem..not comparable to the west. Why this seemingly disparaging stance? It is what it is no? Would you, or do you, also point this out constantly to Mrs NKOTB? Honest question...if so, I bet she would love that.. Just sayin'..

Can we not adjust the title to something a little more accurate? like-

At least the bridge did not collapse while the road got washed away.
