You’d be surprised. Missus points out this stuff to me.Clutch Cargo wrote:Would you, or do you, also point this out constantly to Mrs NKOTB? Honest question...if so, I bet she would love that.. Just sayin'..
In Cambodia, there is a culture of silence. Speak up too much or in the wrong way, and the hammer comes down. She’s pretended to never have opinions her entire life.
Out of Cambodia, she’s free to express her opinions. And her freedom grows daily.

Sure, as long as it's the cult line.newkidontheblock wrote: ↑Thu Aug 11, 2022 9:12 pm Out of Cambodia, she’s free to express her opinions. And her freedom grows daily.
Silence, exile, and cunning.

Well then, I hope your missus doesn't get too stressed thinking about all these Cambodian deficiencies, inadequacies and generally 'not measuring up' to the west'newkidontheblock wrote: ↑Thu Aug 11, 2022 9:12 pmYou’d be surprised. Of course if enough people speak up about these things this will bring about/speed up change in time..but won't happen overnight. Even if there's the will to change and improve, the fact remains Cambodia is still a developing and not a rich or advanced country. So it will take a few generations imo. eg I remember as a kid in the 60s people referring to 'Jap junk' and look what they do now. Also, early Korean cars were pretty rough but now comparable to Japanese quality. And now the Chinese are doing the same. Cambodia is growing fast from a low base but has a lot of catching up to do if one expects similar standards to the west. Won't happen in my life time.
