It’s very sad what is happening in Cambodia

“According to Colonel Tey Visal, Sihanoukville Police Inspector, the man shot himself with a pistol at 11:45 a.m. on August 5, 2022, on the popular Ochheuteal Beach, Sangkat 4, Sihanoukville.

The man was named by police as SU XIANG, male, Chinese, born on December 10, 1993”

If it's possible for there to be an upside to a suicide, it's that at least he didn't decide to take anyone else with him, or involve anyone else in his death. Some people choose suicide by cop or drive into an oncoming truck and then the cop/truck driver has nightmares for the rest of his life.

Anyway, it's a sad thing. May the guy RIP.

Most Chinese seem to prefer the good ol' flying club, trying a flight from a high rise balcony.

Poor guy, he must have been in serious shit to take this final step. It happens a bit too much lately.... But not enough for the competent forces to see a pattern I'm afraid.

The idea of someone choosing suicide in a foreign country- just how alone, isolate, and hopeless do Chinese individuals feel?

It is sad for anyone, but what is going on is beyond ‘the norm’ (not that I am content with suicide being a norm)

An officer says the man shot himself, no mention of witnesses.
Bottom of the article notes that the police is still investigating.

An image is provided with a gun slightly tucked in under the victim.

Is the officer perhaps just speculating?

Cambodia News, (Sihanoukville): Authorities have confirmed that a Chinese man was found dead near the beach around Ochheuteal, Sihanoukville, on the morning of August 5, 2022.
It has been initially concluded that it was a suicide with the man shooting himself with a pistol, but it is not yet known what led to the suicide. According to Colonel Tey Visal, Sihanoukville Police Inspector, at 11:45 a.m. on August 5, 2022, in Sangkat 4, Sihanoukville (Ochheuteal Beach), according to the security camera of the Chinese victim, the death was caused by a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Authorities confirmed that the victim was found lying already dead at the scene, under a tree with a pistol under the victim's thigh.(See spoiler).
The victim, identified as SU XIANG, a 29-year-old Chinese man, was found in possession of a CF98 pistol, eight rounds of ammunition and a shotgun shell, a backpack, a dry food bag and a bottle of wine.

After the incident, the authorities arranged for an autopsy on the body according to the procedure and transported the body to be stored at the Sihanoukville Provincial Referral Hospital.

First, R.I.P. To the deceased.

Expert analyzes welcome how the pistol ended up under the right thigh.

Can it be something like this:
Standing up, shooting to the right temple, falling down, finger on a trigger keeps the the pistol, able to swing under the right thigh when falling down after shot?

It's just the temple is not the "correct" place to hit if you want to "leave".

Just that pistol under a right thigh seems kind of strange.

Hard things, but kind of common here and everywhere around the world. I'm drunk.
