Bus of Foreigners Inspected After Woman Gets Beaten
Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): According to a police report, the police of Kampoul district checked a bus carrying more than 30 foreigners at 7 pm on August 1, 2022 along the national road No. 4, in front of Sokha Kampoul Maternity Hospital, located in Trapeang Koul Village, Sangkat Kantouk, Khan Kampoul.
The inspection was made after people reported that a Chinese man from the bus, armed with a weapon, was seen beating a woman to the ground.
The police confirmed that the car that was stopped was a red and yellow bus with license plate Phnom Penh 3E-2368 carrying 34 Vietnamese and Chinese foreigners, and one Cambodian bus driver.
According to the police, a Chinese man beat up a Vietnamese woman, causing her to fall down, and then dragged her on to the bus above. The police were alerted, but the suspect left the bus and ran away.
The police force of Kampoul district took the bus to the police station in Sangkat Kantouk to check the foreigners, but no weapons were found. The foreigners were sent to the Phnom Penh Municipal Commissioner for further action.

Re: Bus of Foreigners Inspected After Woman Gets Beaten
Point of order CEO News.
In Khmer language, we expats are barang, barang are foreigners.
In Khmer language, Chinese and Vietnamese are not barang.
Could we stop referring to Chinese criminals, Chinese car crashes, etc. as foreigners. It's wrong and misleading.
On the other hand, if we're doing it for click-bait, then carry on. As you were.

Khmer language has an extensive vocabulary, and there are different ways to address a foreigner, all with a slightly different meaning.

Don't the words barang and farang specifically refer to Westerners/whites?mania2301 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 04, 2022 6:46 pmAnyone who are not a cambodian & staying in Cambodia are considered foreigner....what makes you think that only caucasians are considered foreigners??Username Taken wrote: ↑Thu Aug 04, 2022 4:43 pm Point of order CEO News.

That may or may not be so, however, there's also the broader issue.. i.e. whether the perps mentioned in these news stories who happen to be non-Cambodian should all be lumped into the generic bucket and referred to as 'foreigners'. I think the suggestion is that it would be more accurate and meaningful if their specific nationality is mentioned.mania2301 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 04, 2022 6:46 pmAnyone who are not a cambodian & staying in Cambodia are considered foreigner....what makes you think that only caucasians are considered foreigners??Username Taken wrote: ↑Thu Aug 04, 2022 4:43 pm Point of order CEO News.

He could be from the US and just not know any better. Over 2 million people cross the US border illegally each year and they are considered undocumented citizens. You can see how that would warp anyones senses of foreigner vs not foreigner.mania2301 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 04, 2022 6:46 pmAnyone who are not a cambodian & staying in Cambodia are considered foreigner....what makes you think that only caucasians are considered foreigners??Username Taken wrote: ↑Thu Aug 04, 2022 4:43 pm Point of order CEO News.
