How to change a registration card's name?

Post by Bitte_Kein_Lexus »

As per the title, does anyone know the procedure (and cost) for changing the name on a motorcycle registration card? I assume it's done at the same place where license plates are issued (formerly near ORussei, but ow apparently somewhere near Prey Lieb).

Do you know where to do it? Or how it works? Is it the same office as the license plate one?

You are right. You have to go to the office near Preak liep. I think it is better to bring someone who speak kherm along. The price is only between 20 to 25 dollar.

I speak Khmer, remember? ;-) Ok, thanks. I heard it takes about a month. I'm slowly shopping for a new bike...

We're in at Lucky Lucky tomorrow sorting out visas, I'll ask if they do this. I'll also ask what the state of play is on work permits.

Oh thanks, please do. Didn't even cross my mind to ask them. I should pop in for a social call. I should also probably get a new license...

Work Permits are the responsibility of the employer. Simple as that (for employees).

Mm. A little different if you're the employer and business owner.

Okay, dropped the passports for (ordinary) visa renewals today, paid $288 for each - I believe the current official rate is $280, happy to pay them $8 fee.

Asked about work permits, was told we'd need to pay $100 for the year we've been here plus $100 for the coming year. Not yet required for visa renewal, but starting to be policed with penalties about to occur. We earn no income here and yet still have to pay for any and all time here on an E (ordinary) visa. Not working, or not earning income, does not make a difference. The LL lady commented that we could either pay it all now or pay it all later, but it would probably be 'more expensive' if we chose to pay it all later. This may be an area of concern for some of you longer term stayers, the argument that "employer is supposed to pay" doesn't seem to hold much weight. Also seems to apply for NGOers, which is news to me.

Lucky Lucky will do drivers license renewals at $35 a pop, but warn to not be late, even a day, as it suddenly gets much more expensive. They also advise that they only place you can change the name on a registration card is at the licensing centre.
