Dutch Farmers Protest Getting Wild

But will still be a significant landowners, and they could always grow tulips.Kammekor wrote: ↑Tue Jul 12, 2022 4:34 pmWell, the Dutch farmers need some slack. Decades of stimulation and support by the government recently changed into 'look at the pollution you cause'. The pollution isn't new, report after report after report has been published since the 80's in the last century, but those were largely ignored. By planting some trees the government hoped they could compensate for the pollution, but the judges no longer accept it.Bongmab69 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 12, 2022 4:14 pm I live at only 15 minutes from the dutch border, and there are small and big farmers everywhere, and they do feed locals and do export. Is not really all black or white. But whatt makes me always laugh, doesnt matter in which country they are, did you ever here a farmer telling he was happy with everything ?? Its always or to dry, or to wet, or to cold or to hot. Everywhere in the world, and IMO it has to do al lot with the world food organisation, or what was the name, how more they complain, how more they get from thos organisations. And still they will complain . . . And after everything, they all do drive a big car an sunday, useally not during the week, but they keep on crying !!
On the other hand, most of these farmers are multi millionaires, albeit with large debts. They own massive plots of land, massive barns (which could be used for different purposes), massive machines. Just look at the tractors in the video's, those are 200-500k machines.
But you know what they say about a farmer, a farmer always has money.
When a farmer runs out of money, he or she will sell a cow, or a pig. And once the farmer runs out of life stock, well, it's not a farmer anymore.
In the UK farms and farmhouses are 100% exempt for Inheritance tax (aka Death Duties) so even in death the poor taxpayer keeps up the subsidies for the impoverished farmers. Do the Dutch enjoy such preferences too?

Farmers protests (along with the P.I.G.S nations insurmountable debt) will cause the collapse of the EU as we currently know it within the next decade.
It's not only in the Netherlands; farmers all over the EU are having a hard time coping with the bureaucratic mess that has come about
Small farmers,in particular, are being disincentivized to continue to produce meat, grains and vegetables
Most livestock is sold to factories at a loss, and subsidies don't cover the shortfall
Granted, the giant factory farms that the dutch have may be outliers - but it's 100% given that the legit small farmers (under 100ha and under 200/300 head) have been properly fucked a long time ago

Nah, not every kind of soil / environment is suitable to grow tulips. You will mainly see those on the sand & clay soils in the West of the country. You can't grow those Nationwide. But pigs & chicken you can, you can just import the food (Soi beans) and need land to get rid of the sh#t. Corn is number one for that.Doc67 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 12, 2022 4:52 pmBut will still be a significant landowners, and they could always grow tulips.Kammekor wrote: ↑Tue Jul 12, 2022 4:34 pmWell, the Dutch farmers need some slack. The war in Ukraine is causing serious global food insecurity and the Dutch are reducing the ability of farmers to produce food. Did no-one think to just postpone things for a year? You know, till things (hopefully) get back to normal.

Industrial pig & chicken breeding has been a major strain on food production for humans for decades One kg of meat requires how many kg of grains? 1 to 3 if I recall well.
If we seriously worry about global food insecurity we start feeding people instead of pigs and chicken in industrial farms.
