Cambodia News(Phnom Penh): At 11:40 on 16 June 2022, a young woman was taken into custody by a phone seller and handed over to the police after she was caught red-handed stealing 8 mobile phones. The incident happened at a mobile phone shop along Veng Sreng Street, Trapeang Thleung Village, Sangkat Choam Chao I, Khan Por Senchey, Phnom Penh
The suspect is 18-year-old But Chanry, who was staying in a room near the scene.

According to the woman who sold the mobile phones, she was selling mobile phones in front of her house as usual. She then went inside to cook, when she saw a young woman walking in front of her cell phone store, carrying a black bag of clothes, and walking back and forth in front of the store in a suspicious way.

The phone seller decided to watch the girl for a while. Suddenly, the suspect grabbed eight of the mobile phones on display and stuffed them in her black bag underneath some spare clothes, and ran away. The seller then screamed out "Jao!" [thief] to alert her neighbours and get them to help her arrest the suspect. She then called the police.
After the arrest, the suspect confessed in front of the police that she did steal all 8 phones.
