I think this was a spectacularly failed attempt to back up his press secretaries claims (when challenged that Biden is too feeble and confused to do his job properly) that “the ‘president’ is so busy, it’s difficult to keep up with him”

What would be nice, in the land of rainbows and unicorns, is this:

Trump, realising that winning the presidency is more important than “Trump” winning the presidency he goes full on campaign mode and pushes Desantis.
Desantis is, basically, Trump but without the extraneous shit. Though some of it was funny.

Minus the verbal humor and pugnacious nature that won him the election in 2016? Well, that was a huge part of the appeal.
