Sihanoukville Residents Woken by Shock Shooting
Cambodia News, (Sihanoukville): Shots rang out in the early hours of this morning, when a shooting was reported by Sihanoukville residents on June 16,2022, on Andong Ang Road, Sangkat 3, Sihanoukville. The incident involved several cars of Chinese men and a Chinese man was injured by a bullet.
People living near the scene said that the sound of gunfire woke them up at about 1am with multiple shots fired in the street. They didn't dare to come out and look, but after a while, they peeked through the windows and saw three cars driving away quickly, leaving many blood stains and bullet shells.
The police arrived at the scene to check and collected the shells. According to sources, the authorities have identified the cause of the shooting as a dispute over a debt between Chinese nationals.
Sources said that after the incident, the authorities found an Audi car suspected to be the car of the group in Prey Nob district, about 43 kilometers from Sihanoukville.
It is hoped that the authorities will soon bring the perpetrators to justice.

Family friendly holiday destination they keep telling us, I won't be taking the chance.
Well they definitely got what they asked for with creating a Chinese gangster town instead of a deadbeat hippies town , but suppose there is a hell of a lot more $$ in the latter.

I'm standing up, so I must be straight.

I would guess some local people have made a lot of money from having the Chinese take over Sihanoukville
A lot of locals thought it was great when it started, and we are continually told that local people are much better off as a result
I guess watching live gun battles is far more interesting than watching a couple of drunk backpackers trying to remember where their $2 dormitory room is after a day spent drinking on the beach
