Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): On the morning of May 13, 2022, the Court of Appeal rejected the appeal for a retrial of 2 Taiwanese men who were found guilty of planning to smuggle 1.41kg of illegal substances from Phnom Penh International Airport to Hong Kong in 2011.

The convicts were Tseng Chishen, a 32-year-old man who was sentenced to 28 years in prison and fined 80 million riels, and Lin Wen Pin, a 29-year-old man who was sentenced to 25 years in prison and fined 50 million riels on charges of “Illegal transportation and trafficking of drugs under Article 40 of the Law on Drug Control".

The convict who filed for an appeal was Lin Wen Pin. Both men were arrested at Phnom Penh airport on October 11, 2011, when the military police confiscated 1041.3 grams of white drugs hidden in the bottom of their suitcase. They still have the possibility to appeal for a sentence reduction before the Supreme Court.
