Do you support Amber Heard or Johnny Depp?
Re: Do you support Amber Heard or Johnny Depp?
She spoke freely and openly to tell us that she feels she has lost the right to speak freely and openly.

Must be so hard to be rich and famous if no one is paying attention to you. Even if it's just to show the world what an arsehole you are IRL.
Re: Do you support Amber Heard or Johnny Depp?
You can speak freely and openly, just speak the truth.
I'm standing up, so I must be straight.

Well, you can see from Schillings quote that they felt they had done enough to win the UK case. The problem in the UK case was the biased judge, sitting alone with no jury.violet wrote: ↑Thu Jun 02, 2022 1:21 pmI thought the UK event didn’t include all Johnny’s evidence. Depp's UK lawyer at the time said he would likely appeal that ruling, saying:
Jenny Afia of Schillings law firm, who represented Mr Depp, said: "This decision is as perverse as it is bewildering. "Most troubling is the judge's reliance on the testimony of Amber Heard, and corresponding disregard of the mountain of counter-evidence from police officers, medical practitioners, her own former assistant, other unchallenged witnesses and an array of documentary evidence which completely undermined the allegations, point by point." "The judgement is so flawed that it would be ridiculous for Mr Depp not to appeal this decision," she added.
But he did not appeal it. Instead he pursued the US case and won that.
IMHO, this was another example of the male UK judge falling for the damsel in distress (see also Mary Archer and Meghan Markle) and reaching a wrong decision. Probably also the cross-examining of Heard was better in the USA, although, without a jury in the UK trial, that could have just provoked the judge's protective instincts further.

All I know is the UK court case was Depp vs The Sun. The USA case was Depp vs Heard. In the UK Heard was simply believed to be telling the truth because she said, as a witness for The Sun, it was true, while in the USA she was proven to have lied.armchairlawyer wrote: ↑Thu Jun 02, 2022 7:39 pmWell, you can see from Schillings quote that they felt they had done enough to win the UK case. He has never denied being an alcoholic or having substance abuse issues. Many people do. However it's a huge jump in logic to assume that he is a wife beater because of that. I don't believe you have actually followed the case at all if you don't see how abusive and violent she was, and how much she lied.orichá wrote: ↑Thu Jun 02, 2022 3:54 pm ...Since "Blow" Johnny Depp transformed himself into an atrociously mediocre ham actor. Captain Jack Sparrow is one of his most fake performances, and there's no excuse channeling K. Richards, either... I don't think he really deserves any new roles. But he's gonna need to find some if he wants to pay for all that
expensive, fine wine...
Finally, face it: Johnny really was a junkie and drunk, and I just don't get why everyone sympathizes with him, at all... I tend to agree with the above editorial in the Guardian...

Dear Candace McDuffie, It means the same for Black women as it does for White women. Don't tell lies.

Seriously, this case should not deter legit claims of abuse, but instead discourage lying and dubious lawsuits.
Two major networks disagree.

I wonder if it will encourage men to come forward who have experienced coercion (now a thing in at least some parts of Australia I think) or abuse - emotional, psychological or physical
