Will KOW allow none vaxxed travellers restriction free entry anytime soon?

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! Will KOW allow none vaxxed travellers restriction free entry anytime soon?

Post by Sirhaden1 »

In essence hat's what I'm wondering.
Now we know that the vaccination does not stop transmission, will Cambo or any other SEA country take the lead by lessening the travel restrictions any time soon?

Why?
Why not? With over 90% of their potential tourists vaccinated why quit the window dressing of showing measures to protect the Cambodians?

If you want to visit anytime soon I guess you need your jabs.

No one knows, decisions like these are often announced with effect immediately, late at night on a Saturday, but usually take a couple weeks to filter out to the airlines.

Quarantine period for unvaxxed is only 7 days now.

I think its coming. The hysteria seems to be abating. You dont protect anybody but yourself with the jabs.

Yes, but not this year.

Assuming there isn't a more pathogenic variant, by 2023 most countries will quietly abandon all these rules. It has mutated to little more than a mild flu and nobody is buying the fear anymore. Maybe it will just go to a tick-box on the immigration form.

There is the issue of the anti-vaxers too. They had their views and stuck to their guns (no pun intended) and that debate is now moot. To continue to hamper their freedom of travel has no scientific validity and is more based on resentment and spite that they refused to do as they were told by their respective governments.

Unless their unvaxxed status makes them more susceptible to serious illness in a country without the ability to treat well. It’s not so moot then. Isn’t their a difference between the vaxxed and unvaxxed ability or likelyhood to spread the virus as well. I could have sworn I read something to that effect.

Well, they would say that wouldn't they? Give the vaccinated people a reason to resent them.

Anyway, Omicron is everywhere and whether you are vaccinated or not, the chances are you've had it or will get it this year. It's virtually impossible to avoid. And a natural infection is better than any of those vaccines. I've had Covid twice, despite 3 shots of Sinovac.

The justification of the unvaccinated getting ill and being a burden with Omicron is very low. It would be far better that Thailand insist on a current fully paid up medical insurance policy for all tourists to cover road accidents and other illness'. I think they already do for expat residents?

Cambodia should do it too.

But it's a bloody good business. Just crossed into Vietnam and at the border everyone crossing has to do a $10 test assuming there is about few thousand people crossing daily that's a lot of T money for the customs and immigration boys at the border. Why would they possibly even consider getting rid of that?
