Cambodia News (Siem Reap Province): At around 1:00 am on April 18, 2022, at a crocodile farm in Kompong Tayong village, Siem Reap, a 37-year-old man named Su Sothea, an officer of Pouk District Administration, fell into the crocodiles' enclosure and got attacked by the crocodiles. According to the family, the victim was the prime caretaker of the crocodiles that they farmed and he always slept in a hammock above the crocodiles' enclosure.

On the evening of April 17, 2022, the family had a New Year party and drank a case of beer (24 cans), then they went to sleep after the gathering was over. The victim went to sleep in his hammock by the crocodiles as usual.
However, at around 1:00 am, the family heard the victim screaming and went to check on him. To their horror, the victim was seen being attacked by the crocodiles, and they used wooden sticks to chase the crocodiles off to rescue the victim.
According to the police, the victim fell into the enclosure which housed at least 20 crocodiles. The man was sent to the hospital with major wounds.

Let's lower the bar at 23 cans and see how it goes, or maybe, MAYBE, move the hammock aside from the croc pit ?

Hammock above the crocodile den... Sounds like a close shave away from winning the month's Darwin award.

Going by the size of those bricks those crocs are over 10 feet long.

I'll refrain from pointing out that some locals have no brains, I don't want to be accused of lacking sensitivity. This chaps momentary lapse in intellect can clearly only be blamed on the 24 cans that he SHARED!

On the contrary- Do. It’s quite clear that slinging a hammock in that location would be questionable, sober. Even as a stunt.
As for the 24 cans shared- while it’s unlikely that he necked all 24 himself, based on my experience of family gatherings around important events, the first case of 24 cans leads to people forgetting about the subsequent cases consumed.

Forest Gump had an apt phrase.

I think he should be congratulated that he survived relatively intact.

UPDATE: Siem Reap crocodile attack man dies of his injuries
Following yesterday’s news that a man in Siem Reap had sustained severe injuries after being attacked by crocodiles, news has just come that the man had died from his injuries this morning.

Puok District Inspector Tep Pum Sen confirmed that the victim, Sou Sothea, a 37-year-old male, had passed away.

The man, who was a caretaker at a crocodile farm, had slipped and fallen into a crocodile pool at the farm where he was attacked by the startled reptiles on the evening of April 17 at Kampong Tayong village, Puok commune, Puok district, Siem Reap.

The man’s family members went to rescue him after his cries were heard and fended off the crocs with sticks.

After being transported for treatment at Phnom Penh’s Calmette Hospital, he was being transported back to Siem Reap, but sadly died en route at Kampong Thom.

So he went from Siem Riep to Phnom Penh for treatment and died on the way from Phnom Penh to Siem Riep for treatment, has the medical system failed again?
