Critical Care for Lee and Mel (GoFundMe)

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Critical Care for Lee and Mel (GoFundMe)

Post by rozzieoz »

You couldn't meet a nicer couple. This is devastating news :(

Copied from GoFundMe:

https://www.gofundme.com/f/critical-care-for-lee

We're raising money to assist Lee and Mel cover urgent medical costs.

On Wednesday 13th of April 2022, Lee and Mel were involved in a serious road accident while traveling from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap. Lee is seriously injured and we're seeking donations to ensure he can receive the medical attention he desperately requires.
Mel is also injured and will require specialized medical attention.

As of noon Thursday 14th of April, there is sufficient blood supplies to ensure any surgeries required can proceed. We will reach out to you with specific instructions on how to donate blood (when required).

Please note this situation is evolving rapidly and we will keep you updated ASAP.

UPDATE YESTERDAY:
Lee has undergone extensive surgery and is now in a stable condition. He will have an MRI scan in the coming hours to assess any damage to his spine.
Mel requires specialised surgery for her left forearm. She is scheduled for an operation this weekend.

Warren has listed his ABA details on the GoFundMe post as well, but I didn't feel comfortable copying the number to here - but it's there if you'd rather deposit directly into an ABA account.

You feel so helpless hey. And you realise how fragile we really are in this country.
Thank god they were wearing decent helmets otherwise I think the outcome would have been different.
They were literally driven over by a truck :(

Thank you for your support.
Early this morning we put out a call for more blood donors. We've received enough donations for Lee to have another blood transfusion this afternoon. He is stable and his condition is being managed.

Mel will have surgery this afternoon on her forearm & wrist.
She has sustained other injuries, and while they are not as critical, I wish for people to be aware that both Mel and Lee will require substantial rehabilitation in the coming months.

For those who don't know, Mel performs under the name "Baudelaire", an aerial dance performer and instructor.
She is incredible. To think of her with a shattered arm (not just broken, literally shattered) is heartbreaking.

Jesus, what a terrible story. I hope they can recover from their injuries.

I keep telling people that the most dangerous aspect of being an ex-pat isn't the cheap booze, drugs, or dangerous expats. It's the roads. They don't give a fuck about human life over there.

Slippery bathrooms are worse imo, but you have a point; I prefer to drive faster than prevailing traffic partly so I never get rear ended like these two poor peopleand get away from dangerous morons; it's worked this far. . .

Hopefully they make a decent recovery
