Chinese Shooting in Phnom Penh Street at Dawn

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

More chance of dying slipping in the shower, road accident or any other random accident than a stray bullet hitting and killing you.
People of the world, spice up your life.

That Rick O'Shea chap used to cop the blame for random shooting miss-haps quite regularly in the past.

True.
Not very reassuring to be honest.

Slipping in the shower would make me feel like an idiot. Getting randomly shot is not really one's fault. Still would suck.

The shootings may have increased of late with the Chinese being new gun carrier's. But not let us forget there had been plenty of Khmer shootings over the years.
It was not long ago when I saw a bullet being removed from a victims lung, many of the incidents don't make the news.

Why would this cause any concern for you about random gunmen? It was two groups of chineese that had a dispute if you missed it so not just a random shooting.
The bullets that missed the target had to hit something, right?

How many shots found their mark, and how many went wide? Or exaggeration?
Anybody used to shooting handguns knows that's quite possible. Even when you're trained it's fairly difficult to hit a moving target that's more than 30m away, so with a stressed, untrained henchman wielding the weapon, your odds of success diminish tremendously. Possibly on meth too... Not at all like in the movies.
True. Also some people get shot loads of times and don't die, other people are unlucky and die quickly from a pellet.

Hitting a moving target at 10 meters with a handgun would be difficult.

Anyone saying that nobody should be worried needs to search Khmer news and even this site or TOF for "ricochet" :-)
